The Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) held a meeting tonight chaired by the President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas.
In his speech during the meeting, the president stressed the grave threat to the Palestinian national cause due to the occupation's ongoing aggression against the Palestinian people throughout the occupied Palestinian Territory, especially the continuing policy of genocide and systematic destruction in the Gaza Strip that has been ongoing for nine consecutive months.
The president said the Israeli destruction of homes, schools, colleges, hospitals and places of worship, the daily shelling and mass massacres aim to implement the policy of displacement against Palestinians, which coincides with the occupation's restrictions imposed on villages, camps and cities in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, and the ongoing colonial expansion, land appropriation, daily military incursions and detentions and the policy of daily killing.
President Abbas also discussed Israel’s theft and piracy of Palestinian clearance funds and the confiscation of these Palestinian funds to undermine the status of the Palestinian National Authority, consistent with the statements made by the occupation government to dismantle the PA, re-impose the occupation and settler colonialism and liquidate the rights of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital Jerusalem.
The president affirmed adherence to Palestinian unity and an end to the division, praising the Chinese role in support of the Palestinian people and their cause, and the positions of all states that have undertaken efforts to achieve that.
The President praised the international recognition of the Palestinian state and the role of international institutions, especially the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the International Criminal Court (ICC), the Human Rights Council and the United Nations, in pursuing the crimes of the occupation to put a stop to these crimes.
The PLO Executive Committee emphasized during the meeting the importance of concerted efforts to stop the genocide committed against the Palestinian people, stressing the steadfastness of Palestinians and their resistance to strategic objectives of the occupation, particularly the displacement of Palestinians and the liquidation of their rights and principles embodied by the PLO; the sole and legitimate representative of Palestinian people.
The Committee underlined the need to resist and confront the occupation practices, including confronting the colonial gangs attacking Palestinians in the streets, villages and towns located near illegal colonies, stressing the importance of strengthening the role of protection committees to defend the Palestinian people.
