The Israeli court breaches the exchange deal by chasing the liberated detainee Fadwa Hamadah

January 10, 2024

The Commission of Detainee’ Affairs expressed its deep concern over chasing the liberated detainee Fadwa Hamadah by the Israeli authorities and breaching the exchange deal which has been conducted under international sponsorship.

The Commission has affirmed that summoning Hamadah came under the claim of the Israeli judge that she committed transgressions against the administration and officers of the prison during her detention, without taking into account that she has been liberated by an exchange deal under international guarantees.

The commission stated that what happened in the Israeli court of magistrate in Haifa is an obvious breach against Hamadah and all detainees which have been liberated by exchange deals, where this means that their files and cases are still opened in the occupation’ courts.
The commission called on the necessity of obliging Israel to be committed to the deal conditions.

It is worth considering that the detainee Fadwa Hamadah, 35, from Sour Baher/ Jerusalem, was arrested in 2017 and sentenced to 10 years and a fine of 30.000 ILS, and has been liberated by the latest exchange deal.
