A Palestinian delegation activities from the “For Palestine” campaign meets with the leadership of the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party in Madrid - Spain


Within the activities of the “For Palestine” campaign, a delegation from the Palestine Liberation Organization met with the leaders of the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party in the Spain capital, Madrid. 
The delegation lead by Dr. Faisal Aranki, member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, the chairman of the Expatriates Affairs Department, and Dr. Qasem Awwad, Director General of the Department of Human Rights and Civil Society, the General Coordinator of the Campaign, and His Excellency the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Spain, Hosni Abdel Wahed.


The head of the delegation, Dr. Faisal Aranki, briefed the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party on the actions of the political leadership on the global scene  to gain more understanding and support for the rights of the Palestinian people, asserting the importance of the historic speech that His Excellency President Mahmoud Abbas will deliver at the United Nations at its seventy-eighth session this month.
Aranki added that the struggles of peoples are acumulative, and that the organized attacks directed against the issues of our Palestinian people, and in many cases trying to attack the person of Mr. President Mahmoud Abbas, are distorted campaigns targeting all Palestinians. Calling on the party to develop an action plan to raise the level of solidarity, and to request the Spanish government to recognize the Palestinian state, and activate its international relations, to put pressure on countries that vote against or absentee for recognition of the State of Palestine.


 Dr. Aranki informed the party’s leadership about the developments in the political situation in Palestine, the escalating aggression against our people, their holy sites and property, and apartheid policies, and ways


 Mr. Qasem Awwad gave an explanation of the mechanisms and objectives of the “For Palestine” campaign, and the adoption of the Palestine speech delivered by Mr. President at the 77th session of the United Nations as a political, conceptual, and reference framework for the countries of the world, to lift the injustice against our Palestinian people, and of the importance of increasing the amount of global solidarity and support for this speech, so that a global position grow by the time of the next 78th annual session of the United Nations and for that position to be  clearer and fairer to the Palestinian issue.


Form their part, the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party welcomed this visit, and the campaign and its goals, and the importance of establishing joint cooperation mechanisms to work on them globally, specifically in Spain, stressing the depth of the historical relationship that brought the two peoples together, and the great Spanish solidarity with the Palestinian cause.


The party leadership stated that the relationship with Palestine is strong, stressing the continuation of intensive coordination between the party and the Embassy of the State of Palestine in Spain, in preparation for expanding the scope of the partnership to achieve the goals of the Palestinian people, leading to their right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state on the entire Palestinian Land.
