Dr. Erekat presented the conclusions of the PLO leadership in the context of systematic Israeli and US violations, as well as the steps taken by the US Administration to undermine international law and the basic prospects for a just and lasting peace. He expressed that this should hopefully serve as an “eye opener” for the international coommunity as PM Netanyahu sees the current situation as an opportunity to move towards annexation.
Dr. Erekat emphasized that Palestine is not going to meet with the US Administration nor will it accept to take part in any effort that considers the US annexation plan as part of any formula. This plan is about Apartheid and nothing else. Palestine has requested a meeting of the Quartet “plus” at ministerial level.
While it was explained that we have seen important positions taken by various countries, and letters sent by members of the US Senate and Congress against annexation, it has all fall short of taking action, which should be the focus.
